At the Des Moines Art Center & Clare and Miles Mills Rose Garden
Some couples just make it easy—and Raeanna and Dilan are one of those couples. They laugh easily, move in sync, and genuinely enjoy just being together. When they reached out about doing an anniversary photo session in Des Moines, I knew we had to make it something special.
We chose two beautiful, distinct locations: the Des Moines Art Center and the Clare and Miles Mills Rose Garden.
A Clean + Modern Vibe at the Des Moines Art Center
We kicked things off at the Des Moines Art Center, one of the best photo locations in Des Moines for anyone who loves clean lines, modern architecture, and soft light. The soft white curves of the building gave their session a minimal, almost editorial look, but the smiles and connection between them kept it grounded in what matters most: their love.
Raeanna’s flowy dress paired perfectly with the neutral setting, and the way these two held hands, leaned into each other, and laughed made it clear why they’re celebrating another year of marriage.
Timeless Romance in the Rose Garden
Next, we moved to the Clare and Miles Mills Rose Garden—a classic Des Moines spot that gave us that lush, romantic contrast to the modernity of the Art Center. The roses were in full bloom, the breeze was gentle, and the whole garden had a quiet calm to it. We took our time, walked the paths, and captured a few quiet moments that I hope they’ll treasure for years to come.
It truly reflected the tone of their relationship—intentional, joyful, and beautifully grounded.
Why I Love Anniversary Sessions
As a photographer based in Iowa, I photograph a lot of love stories—but there’s something different about anniversary sessions. There’s a kind of ease and trust that shows up in couples who’ve been through life together for a while.
