The Leichty Family | Wayland, Iowa Family Session

This sweet family session with the Leichtys was extra special to me. We met out at their family’s favorite place near Wayland, Iowa — the same beautiful spot where Kendall and Sarah got married. It’s such a meaningful place for them, and it made the perfect backdrop to capture this new season of life as a family of five.

Kendall and Sarah have three girls now, including the most adorable set of identical twins who are about the same age as my own twins — which made this session even more fun! The girls are full of personality, with their own unique quirks and that inseparable bond only twins share. They’re spunky, full of giggles, and absolutely adore their new baby sister.

I absolutely love photographing families in places that mean something to them — not just the “pretty spots” that everyone goes to, but locations that hold memories, emotion, and stories. When a session takes place somewhere familiar and special, everyone feels more relaxed and natural. The smiles come easier, the moments feel more genuine, and the connection between everyone really shines through.

Photographing the Leichty family felt like capturing pure joy — the laughter, the love, and the beautiful chaos that comes with raising little ones. It’s amazing how quickly these seasons pass, and I’m so glad they chose to pause and preserve this moment before their girls grow any more (because we all know how fast that happens!).

This Wayland, Iowa family session was the perfect reminder of why I love what I do — telling the story of real families, in meaningful places, surrounded by love.
